The Project

The Pulp Society project demonstrates how museums and art galleries can offer immersive, interactive experiences through virtualization. By creating a high-fidelity, remote-accessible virtual environment, the project allowed patrons to explore gallery spaces without needing to be physically present. This added a new layer of interactivity and engagement, enhancing the overall experience for art enthusiasts.

The Challenge

  1. How can carpenters' design be conveyed more effectively?

  2. How can products be made more interactive for clients to experience, beyond seeing them on paper?

  3. How can we ensure the virtual experience resonates with the firm’s reputation while maintaining high fidelity for artworks?

One of the major challenges was providing a near-accurate representation of artworks for virtual visitors, ensuring that fine details were preserved for an authentic experience.

The Solution

iiterate developed a Virtual Reality application using Unity3D, capturing detailed documentation of the gallery and artwork. The app featured teleportation mechanics, allowing users to explore the virtual space without physical limitations. By providing a high-fidelity experience at virtually zero cost, Pulp Society ensured the gallery could remain fully operational digitally during the pandemic, offering patrons an authentic experience from home.

Cost, Time, and Efficiency

With XR implementation, the gallery was able to reduce both construction and design costs, providing an efficient and cost-effective digital solution to maintain visitor engagement.

Design Features

  • Teleportation Mechanics: Users could explore larger gallery spaces within smaller physical confines, enhancing the virtual experience.

  • Gaze Heatmaps: Collecting visitor engagement data to improve future exhibitions.

  • Fine Detail Representation: Ensuring accurate portrayal of artwork, even at the virtual level.
